Now let's add a pair of jeans. Jeans are an iconic garment and most women will have several pairs. Make sure you have a pair that is dark denim (Faded and light washes are always casual.) and has little to no detail. Details like grommets and top stitching make the jeans very "western wear" and therefore, less versatile.
Most jeans today will have some spandex and/or lycra in them to add comfort and stretchability. Some of the best wearable brands are Not My Daughter's Jeans (found in most department stores), Chico's Platinum Denim and if you like shopping the TV channels, Diane Gilman makes a great pair of jeans and is available on HSN. The jeans should be straight leg or possibly a slight flare, but not boot cut or wide leg. You can add those styles later but first you need the classic straight leg style as it is the most wearable.
I am aware that some country clubs in our area do not allow denim in the clubhouse. You will still have many uses for this pair of dark denim jeans. Pair them with the white shirt or the white silky blouse. Add a great pair of heels and some jewelry. Wear the jeans with a tank top in one of your best colors and add a blazer or jacket. (Caution - do not wear a denim jacket with jeans. Only one piece of denim at a time, please!) The blazer/jacket adds instant polish. Wear the jeans with a sweater set and pearls - very classic.
Remember in yesterday's tip I advised buying two pair of pants and have them hemmed differently if you will be wearing the pants with both heels and flats. The same holds true for jeans. In fact, even more so. Nothing ruins the look of a nice fitting pair of jeans more than having them too short or too long.

I hope you enjoyed Step #3. Stay tuned for Step #4.
